Rafael Burgos
Dancehall Instructor
Rafael “Droid” Burgos, also known as King Droid, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, on July 23, 1994. With over a decade of experience in dance, he began flexing—a street dance style rooted in dancehall and influenced by Hip-Hop—in 2010. His journey includes competing at renowned events like Battlefest and DREAM, where he has won multiple titles. In 2015, he pursued his career fully by performing in the dance production Flexn at the Park Avenue Armory, where the team utilized their movement vocabulary for contemporary storytelling while touring internationally in countries such as France, Italy, Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand. Rafael has also served as a teaching artist with The Shed in New York, inspiring the next generation of dancers. In 2024, he joined New Beginnings as a lead teacher in their residency program, further solidifying his status as a respected figure in the dance community.
