InVision U, Inc. is an innovative, MWBE ran organization that aims to promote self-esteem, empowerment, confidence, empathy, kindness, and grace through structured programs and activities. Founded and led by Kyra "MsJay" Johnson, a lifelong dancer, choreographer, and educator, the organization primarily focused on the vulnerable population of girls and young women of color in the City of New Rochelle. The mission of InVision U, Inc. has been to support New Beginnings Center of the Performing Arts as its leaders aspire to provide the youth of New Rochelle with a nurturing, safe space from which they can gain the self-esteem and confidence to achieve their highest personal goals. InVision U, Inc. is proud to be a part of the New Rochelle community and to be making a positive impact on the lives of its residents. 

 

However, after servicing the community for almost two decades, MsJay saw a greater need that extended outside  the world of the dance and the performing arts.  She realized our youth and young adults were dealing with traumas that caused them to lose their voice and their place in this world. The dictionary defines loss as the state or feeling of grief when deprived of someone or something of value. The emergence of two year pandemic, which we are still trying to recover from, brought with it a season of loss and despair for many people. Many lost jobs, partners, loved ones, children, and even their sense of self and identity.

The two organizations combined forces and have now expanded statewide, developing programming in schools across NYC, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Westchester County, and currently Atlanta, Georgia. Programming covers mentorship, manhood training, scholastic development, resume building, health and wellness, community service, and more.

More concretely, InVision U, Inc. and New Beginnings aim to make their programming affordable for those who need it most. Realizing that the cost of art, photography, videography, dance and cultural education classes are often prohibitive for those who need it most, they scale tuition according to financial need. Particularly in times of dramatic change – such as we are presently experiencing in the community – having a secure foundation such as InVision U, Inc provides can mean the difference between life success or failure as our youth try to find their way.

Over the decade that NBPAS has been in operation, MsJay has nurtured many classes of students who have benefited from not only dance and fitness instruction but also the inspiring life lessons in discipline and resilience that dance training brings.
